Rodney D Ryder

Rodney D. Ryder is a Partner with Scriboard, a full service commercial law firm with cutting edge specialisation in technology, new media and intellectual property laws. Mr. Ryder is Chief Mentor to Enhelion.  He is presently Advisor to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India on the implementation of the Information Technology Act, 2000.  Mr. Ryder has been nominated as a 'Leading Lawyer' in intellectual property, technology, communications and media law by Asia Law, Who'sWhoLegal, Asia Legal 500, amongst other International publications. 

His second book, Intellectual Property and the Internet, published by LexisNexis is perhaps the only one of its kind in Asia.  The text has been acknowledged to be an authoritative work by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and has been quoted in the first and only judgement by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on domain names [Satyam Infoway Ltd. v. Sifynet Solutions Pvt. Ltd.; (2004) 6 SCC 145]. He is advisor to the National Internet Exchange of India [NiXI] and a member of the panel of independent and neutral arbitrators with NiXI.

James completed his graduation in B.A(Hons) Philosophy, from St. Stephens College, Delhi University and went to the Campus Law Centre for his law degree. In his stint there he was one of the leading moot court representatives and represented the college in various national level moot courts as well as training the new intakes for the future. After, his LLB degree he went on to practice law in the district courts, High Court and Supreme Court under the guidance of senior counsels. Subsequent to that he joined a reputed banking and finance law firm, S.N. Gupta. After working for 3 years in the field of law he went for his further studies to the Queen Mary College, University of London where he pursued his masters in Intellectual Property Laws. He has been a regular guest speaker to workshops, to name a few “The workshop on intellectual property for MSME’s of Agricultural Implements” hosted by Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises”; “Interactive Session with Custom Officials on IPR Enforcement - Best Practices” &  “Interactive Session with Police Officials on IPR Enforcement – Best Practices” hosted by Confederation of Indian Industries. His work profile includes the advising of various Fortune 500 companies on their digital brand management portfolios and managing the same. 

Ashwin Madhavan

Ashwin Madhavan is a Director of Enhelion, heading the Strategic Alliances & Operations team. He is a also a lawyer at Scriboard - Advocates and Legal Consultants, where he advises clients on Intellectual Property, Management and Information Technology Issues.He completed his law from Gujarat National Law University in 2010 and an LLM in Technology Laws and Intellectual Property Laws from Dalhousie University, Canada in 2011, He is a founding member of Enhelion. His areas of expertise are Domain Names and Cybersquatting, Trademarks, Copyrights and Information Technology Laws. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association. He has advised various Fortune 500 companies on various aspects of India's technology and IP Laws. He has written several articles for various journals National and International publications. He was a member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Legal Research, GNLU and also a member of Law Wire’s Editorial Board.  Ashwin loves to read books related to history, business management and foreign policy. He has travelled extensively to different parts of the globe. He has taken part in discussions pertaining to India’s foreign policy matters at Jawahar Lal Nehru University. He is a trained classical singer and is also currently learning to play the Piano from the Delhi School of Music. He has conducted workshops on Intellectual Property and Management in Indian law schools. He recently was an instructor at a training programme on “Intellectual Property and the Plant Varieties Act” organized by the Ministry of Agriculture – Government of India for Scientists. Very recently he was a speaker at the US – India Business Council summit on Intellectual Property held in Gujarat National Law University. He is currently co authoring a book on Intellectual Property and Business.


Nishant Mandawara

Nishant is a lawyer based out of Jaipur. He is practicing at the Rajasthan High Court. He has extensive experience in Corporate Legal aspects contracts, compliances. He has advised clients on various aspects of the law, including Labour laws, Law of Crimes, Consumer laws, taxation and land revenue. Nishant brings with him immense practical knowledge, that will help students understand the practical nitty gritties of the law.
